1. Subject and Acceptance of Terms

By accessing the website Local Broom (hereinafter referred to as "the Site"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Local Broom regarding your use of our digital platforms, resource libraries, and meal planning tools.

In accordance with the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada, your continued use of this site signifies your "click-wrap" or "browse-wrap" consent to these conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, you must immediately cease all use of the Site.

Local Broom provides educational content, technical sheets, and digital tools designed to facilitate:

  • Food waste tracking and cost metrics for Ottawa households.

3. Rules of Use and Prohibitions

Users are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access the information for personal, non-commercial use. You agree NOT to:

  • Reproduction or redistribution of our Zero-Waste Cooking Protocols for commercial gain without written consent.
  • Use of automated systems (bots, spiders) to scrape data from our Waste Tracking Analytics.
  • Engaging in any conduct that restricts or inhibits any other user from using or enjoying the site.
  • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to the Site’s server or any database connected to the Site.

4. Intellectual Property Rights

All content featured on this website, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, button icons, images, digital downloads (such as our Smart Procurement and Shopping Systems), and software, is the property of Local Broom or its content suppliers and is protected by Canadian and international copyright laws.

The compilation of all content on this site is the exclusive property of Local Broom. Any unauthorized use of the materials appearing on this site may violate copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

"The services and information provided by Local Broom are offered on an 'as is' and 'as available' basis. We make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, as to the operation of the site or the information, content, or materials included."

Specifically, we do not warrant that our Preservation and Storage Engineering methods will prevent food spoilage under all conditions, as individual appliance performance and food quality vary.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the full extent permissible by applicable law in Ottawa, Ontario, Local Broom shall not be liable for any damages of any kind arising from the use of this site, including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, and consequential damages.

This includes but is not limited to: loss of data, loss of savings from food waste reduction, or health issues arising from improper food storage or handling by the user.

7. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms of Service and any separate agreements whereby we provide you Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada.

Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ottawa, Ontario.

8. Privacy and Data Protection
